Royal International Air Tatoo 2011

Clément Grillot est un jeune élève pilote de l'aéroclub d'Ancenis. Nous avons eu l'occasion de participer ensemble à une sortie de l'aéroclub vers Saint-Pierre d'Oléron le 31 juillet 2011. Nous volions ensemble avec deux autres pilotes à bord du F-GTPD, l'un des 5 avions ayant participé à ce raid (le 6ème avion ayant du rebrousser chemin sur panne de pompe).
Clément Grillot is a young student pilot of the Ancenis' Flying Club. We had the opportunity to participate together at a raid of the Flying Club to Saint-Pierre d'Oléron (France) on July 31st, 2011. We flew together with two other pilots aboard the F-GTPD, one of 5 planes to participate to this raid (the 6th plane had to fly back due to a pump breakdown).

Quelques jours avant cette sortie, Clément a eu la chance d'assister au Royal International Air Tatoo 2011 (Fairford, Angleterre, 17 juillet 2011). Il m'a envoyé quelques photos du meeting que voici ci-dessous. Je l'en remercie sincèrement et souhaite bonne chance à ce jeune dont le souhait est de devenir pilote de ligne.
 A few days before this raid, Clément had the chance to attend the Royal International Air Tatoo 2011 (Fairford, England, July 17th, 2011). He sent me some pictures of the meeting here below. I thank him sincerely and wish good luck to this young guy whose wish is to become an airline pilot.

 Le Spitifre est un Mk IXB (MH 434) codé ZD-B de la Olf Flying Machine Company créée par Ray et Mark Hanna (aujourd'hui disparus). Fabriqué en 1943 à Vickers, Castle Bromwich, il porte ses couleurs d'origine, celles du Squadron No 222.
The Spitfire is a Mk IXB (MH 434) code ZD-B of the Old Flying Machine Company created by Ray and Mark Hanna (today passed away). Built in 1943 at Vickers, Castle Bromwich, it wears its original markings, those of the No 222 Squadron.

Le Mustang est un P-51 D (413704) codé B7-H et il appartient également à la Olf Flying Machine Company. Fabriqué début 1945 à Inglewood, Californie, il fut livré à l'USAAF le 27/02/1945. Il porte les couleurs de "Ferocious Frankie", 374th Fighter Squadron, 361st Fighter Group, piloté par Wallace E. Hopkins, qui nomma son avion en l'honneur de sa femme Frankie.
The Mustang is a P-51 D (413704) code B7-H and it belongs also to the Old Flying Machine Company. Built at the beginning of 1945 at Inglewood, California, she was delivered to the USAAF on 27/02/1945. She weras the markings of "Ferocious Frankie", 374th Fighter Squadron, 361st Fighter Group, flown by Wallace E. Hopkins, who named the aircraft in honour of his wife Frankie.

Ce Lancaster, PA474, est un des deux Lancaster en état de vol (le second est au Canada) et fait partie du Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (B.B.M.F.) de la Royal Air Force. Il porte les marques  (HW-R) du EE139 "Phantom of the Ruhr" qui effectua ses 30 premières opérations au Squadron No 100 et 91 autres opérations au Squadron No 550.
This Lancaster, PA474, is one of the two existing Lancasters in airworthy conditions (the second one is in Canada) and belongs to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (B.B.M.F.) of the Royal Air Force. She wears the markings (HW-R) of EE139 "Phantom of the Ruhr" that flew 30 first ops on No 100 Squadron and 91 others ops on No 550 Squadron.
